Solar PV

Solar energy is a hot topic right now, pun not intended. With the introduction of the FITs scheme more people than ever are switching to solar regeneration, to gain all the benefits, both monetary and ethical. Currently, fossil fuel resources are diminishing and with the rising costs of energy prices, it is natural to turn to a solar power, for generating electricity.

Solar power or solar pv specifically, essentially converts the energy from the sun to electricity. The electricity generated is known as Direct Current (DC), which is highly charged electricity and unsafe to use in its pure form. This has to then be sent to a clever electronic box called an inverter, this is to convert the energy to Alternating Current (AC) which is much safer and manageable to use.

Once this is complete the AC current passes through metering system to easily measure the volume of energy generated. The generated electricity is then available for consumption within the building. The Excess (unused) electricity can then be exported to the national grid.

Solar PV modules is one of the best ways to generate electricity, using the sun’s energy. These are constructed by combining thousands of photovoltaic (pv) cells into one module.

The three main types of panels Süka use:

  • Monocrystalline
  • Thin film
  • Polycrystalline silicon cells

These vary in builds or project and vary in efficiency according to the requirements. View table below:

Solar pv is very adaptable as it can be used in many of different ways. For example it can be mounted on the roof:

Intergrated into the roof with a more smoother sophysticated finish

Solar pv can also be used on flat roof with the assistance of a bucket known as Console or a-frame rails.

There is also the ground-mounted option which can stand alone, but still producing electricity for your building.
