Solar PV produces electricity, using the sun's energy which is then available for your own consumption or to beexported for guaranteed payments to you.
The Feed in Tariff (FIT) This is a major piece of legislation which came into effect earlier in April 2010. Backed by government incentives the FiT system pays 21p per kWh to any individual or organisation over a period of 25 years, taxfree when they install solar pv on their property to generate green energy. The scheme requires electricitysuppliers to make tariff payments on both generation and export of renewable low carbon electricity.
Kilowatt-peak (kWp) is a measure of the peak output of a Solar PV system. A typical domestic solarelectricity system, with an installation size of 3.6 kWp could earn the owner a lot of money. See example here:
Reduction in Bills
This gives a total income plus saving of around £920 per year.
This assumes 50% of the electricity generated isexported. The figure will vary depending on howmuch is exported. Meaning that the more youconserve energy the more you can export to the national grid in order to earn more tax-free money. On the average home a £20,000 profit over a 25 year period via the generation tariff, exporting energy back to the national grid and saving on electricity could be made.
Think how much you could be saving!
Mankind's responsibility to nature
"Think about this: a typical mosque roof spacelike Qur'an Academy in Bristol will take about 80 solar pv modules with 34.0kWp plant size andearn the mosque about £140,000 tax-free incomeover 25 years. It'll cost only under £60,000 to install and these funds could be raised easily among Musallahs and grants. The Mosque would never need to worry too much about electricity bills."
There are more than 700 verses in the Quran that urge believers to reflect on nature and the environment. This is proof that the earth and the environment is vital and needs consideration when carrying out daily activities. It is important to do what you can to preserve the environment. In Islam, even the Earth has absolute rights endowed by its Creator. Innovations in technology were hotly debated among scholars, all of whom recognized the importance of considering the long-term impact on both society and the environment.
God created nature in a balance ("al-mizan") andmankind's responsibility is to maintain thisfragile equilibrium through wise governanceand sound personal conduct. The Quran also describes the believing men and women as those who "walk on the Earth in humility" (25:63). Scholars have interpreted thisverse, and others like it, to mean that Muslimsare to protect nature's many bounties given tothem by the Almighty.
Preservation is therefore more than a good policyrecommendation - it is a commandment fromGod. Sound ecological principles are not limitedto Islam; together we can tackle theenvironmental problems that surround our planet.
